High school students in the Kilgore area will soon have access to new dual credit opportunities in agriculture thanks to a partnership between Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) and Kilgore College (KC). The new courses will be available for the Fall 2018 semester.†

NTCC plans to offer a variety of dual credit courses that will lead to certificates and associate?s degrees in Farm and Ranch Management, Conventional, and Sustainable Agriculture.† Career opportunities for graduates of these programs include:†equipment retail sales and service, farm operations, crop production management, and agribusiness opportunities such as farm insurance, commodity marketing and more.

?We are extremely pleased to partner with NTCC to better serve students in the area who are interested in pursuing dual credit opportunities in agriculture,? said Dr. Brenda Kays, KC president. ?The importance of agriculture in our country cannot be understated and we are excited (with this partnership) to educate some of the best and brightest students for successful careers in one of the most vital professions.?

KC and NTCC are entering into the agreement out of a mutual desire to expand quality educational opportunities to students across the entire Northeast Texas region. This is the second partnership the two colleges have of this nature, as KC is already offering criminal justice courses on the NTCC campus.

According to Dr. Ron Clinton, President of NTCC, ?we are very excited about this opportunity and for these kinds of substantive partnerships that help both of our colleges extend quality educational opportunities to our respective communities in a way that is both efficient and sustainable.?

A formal agreement on this unique agriculture partnership has been finalized by the two community colleges and a signing was held April 12 on the Kilgore College campus. For more information please call 903-434-8366.
