There were no cartoons,†cereal and air conditioning for 25 area 4-H and FFA youth who chose instead to get up early on and come out to participate in the Northeast Texas Goat Raiser?s Association Goat†Clinic held at the Northeast Texas Community College Ag Complex last Saturday.

This was the eighth clinic organized and held by the NETGRA group and†the first to be hosted at the NTCC college campus.††Students gained†valuable hands on experience in feeding, caring for and handling their market†goat projects.††Most participants were new to goat showing and learned valuable hands-on tips††to help them be successful in raising their†project and doing well later at their county livestock shows.

Demonstrations on clipping and trimming goats feet along with discussions on†the right kinds and types of medications to use in case their animals were to†get sick proved to be greatly appreciated and needed by the participants and†their parents.

The all-day complete course†will help these students edge out their competition in the†show ring and boost their confidence in the ring.††For more information on†holding your event at the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Ag Complex or for future†events go to www.ntcc.edu/ag†for more information or†contact Rene?
