The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles baseball team kicked off its spring season†last†Friday with two wins against Cedar Valley Community College.
The†Eagles started the season off on the right foot with a 2-0 shutout. Brandon Colbert, of Pittsburg, got the win.
?Brandon dominated from the first inning. He was keeping the batters off balance and was consistently hitting 92-93 mph with his fastball.† We also created scoring opportunities by running the bases aggressively and timely hitting,"†Eagles Head Baseball Coach, Josh Stewart, said.
The Eagles unleashed their bats on Cedar Valley in the Second game, jumping out to a seven-run lead before the opponents were able to put any runs on the board. The Eagles put away game two of the doubleheader 11-3.† Two Eagles, Christian Tadin and Tristan Graham, led the Eagles at the plate with three hits apiece to lead the barrage. Dalton Algiene started the game and pitched four innings, taking the win on the mound.
The Eagles continued their hot streak on Tuesday with a 20-3 drubbing of the East Texas Baptist University JV. The team from the four-year school was down 14-0 before they finally scored their first run. †Jake Moore picked up the win for NTCC.
"Our guys came out ready to play. We hit the ball hard all over the field. Because we jumped up with a good lead we were able to give a lot of our pitchers opportunities on the mound,? Stewart said.
The Eagles will see action again this weekend with a three-game series at Eagle Field against Pratt Community College starting Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. game on Feb. 7 and a 12 p.m. game on Feb. 8.
