The Horace and Jonice Crane Memorial Scholarship was recently established with the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. Jonice Crane, who passed away this October, was a long-time member of the NTCC Foundation Board. The scholarship will be awarded to a woman majoring in business or a member of the NTCC Eagles Baseball team.

Horace was a veteran of WWII, where he served as a Marine in the†Pacific theatre. He was a lifelong athlete who lettered in four sports during high school and coached for many years. Horace retired from Lone Star Steel and then worked as a consultant in the steel industry. He passed away in 2007.
Jonice began working at Guaranty Bank in 1943. Originally hired as a bookkeeper, she received numerous promotions, ultimately reaching the position of executive vice president. She was a member of the board of directors of Guaranty Bancshares and Guaranty Bank and Trust. She retired from the bank in 1996 but continued to serve on the board of directors. In total she served Guaranty for 70 years†?†55 as an employee and 15 as a board member.†
?Jonice was a strong advocate for women in business and Horace had a lifelong passion for athletics. This scholarship fund will allow their legacies to be carried on for many years to come through the lives of countless students,? Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement said.†
