† † †The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Women?s Eagles Soccer team won two of four games this past week. The Eagles defeated Western Texas College and Paris Junior College, but fell to Jacksonville College and third ranked Tyler Junior College.
† † †Melanie Barnes kicked off the game against Paris on Saturday with a goal seven minutes in, assisted by Imelda Pina. Paris took the lead with two goals before Lorena Gonzalez helped get the lead back for the Eagles at the 36 minute mark, assisted by Brianna Dyess. Paris tied the game again early in the second half before Nathalia Lomax scored a pair of back to back goals giving the Lady Eagles a 5-3 victory.
† † †Wednesday?s game against Western Texas College started off with a goal by the opposition one minute into the game. Lorena Gonzalez tied the score 43 minutes later, assisted by Barnes. This ignited a series of goals by the Eagles and led to a 5-1 win.
† † †Barnes kicked off the game against Tyler with the first goal eight minutes in. Tyler tied the score at the 40 minute mark and Gonzalez took the lead again four minutes later, assisted by Savannah Greer. Tyler tied the score with ten minutes left on the clock and defeated the eagles 3-2 with a last minute goal before the clock ran out. Jacksonville struck first in their game against the Lady Eagles. However, Lomax tied the score 13 minutes later assisted by Rosales. The score stayed tied until Jacksonville pulled into the lead 86 minutes in, defeating the Eagles 2-1.
† † †The Eagles face Texas A&M-Texarkana at their home field on Tuesday, October 7 at 4:00 p.m. and have a home game with Jacksonville on Thursday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. The Eagles then host Tyler Junior College at NTCC for their re-match on Saturday, October 11.
