† † † What do 240 motorcycle enthusiasts, Pioneer Days, the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation and a restored, painted Harley gas tank have in common? Good fun and a great cause!
† † † The 10th Annual Tommy Lee Bike Run was held September 20 during Pittsburg?s Pioneer Days.††The day kicked off with a parade led by dozens and dozens of motorcycles and their riders sporting the infamous black t-shirts†commemorating the 10th anniversary of this charity Bike Run. Proceeds from the event and its sponsors go to an NTCC scholarship fund in memory of Tommy Lee.††To date, more than 15 students have received scholarships thanks to the event.
† † † The run concluded at Barefoot Bay Marina and the winners were announced. NTCC Auto Body Repair Instructor, Ricky Roach, refurbished and painted a Harley gas tank with the Tommy Lee Bike Run logo. The tank was unveiled†and all had a chance to take it home.†Joshua Tim won the tank, but it was later purchased by Wade and Ashley Amerson. The Amersons then presented the tank to Dillon Lee, son of the late Tommy Lee.
† † † ?I was so pleased but not surprised.††The generosity and hearts of our participants is beyond measure.††We are so appreciative of our riders, our sponsors, and of our volunteers who together make this event a success," stated event chair,†Glenda Lee.††?I know Dillon will treasure that tank. We want to thank Ricky Roach who devoted so much time and effort into project and the Amersons for that act of kindness?.
