The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles (NTCC) baseball team dominated the Navarro College Bulldogs†by sweeping†during their three-game series this weekend.
Thursday?s game started off with Austin Griffin hitting a homerun early and followed by Casey Dickerman getting on and working his way around the bases to score in the third. The Bulldogs put up two runs in the fifth and the eighth before Connor Drake scored the what proved to be the winning run for the Eagles in the ninth. Freshman pitcher Lenzie Foley picked up the win 3-2.
Friday began with the Eagles taking a strong lead in the first game of the day. Three RBI and a sacrifice put four runs on the board in the second, two more runs were put up in the third, fourth and sixth before the Bulldog?s finally got on the board in the seventh.† The Eagles ended up dominating the game with a a fainl score of 10-1.† Tanner Buxton took pitched a great game ending up with the win on the hill for the Eagles.
The second game of the double header began like the first with the Eagles scoring runs in all but the second and the sixth innings, defeating the Bulldog?s 9-3.† Lane lewis reigstered the win and Oscar Meuris picked up the save. Connor Hall led the day with six RBI?s. Mason Mantle, Gabriel Matias, Victor Negron and Griffin each had two apiece.
Freshman pitcher Zach Osborne said that they had both good pitching and hitting during all three games this weekend, and that their wins could be credited to their coming ?together as a team? during the series.
The Eagles baseball team will face Weatherford during a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. on Tuesday March 25 at NTCC. They then travel to Lufkin to take on Angelina College for a three game series beginning at 7 p.m. on March 28. They return to battle it out with Paris Junior College during a three game series April 3 and 5 at NTCC, first pitch at 2:30 p.m. April 3.
