Theatre Northeast will present the 1981 Pulitzer Prize and New York Drama Critics Circle Award Winning Comedy-Drama†Crimes of the Heart†by Beth Henley.†The play will be in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Northeast Texas Community College. It will run July 18-20 at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a July 21 matinee at 2:05 p.m.

Warm-hearted, irreverent, zany and brilliantly imaginative, the play teems with humanity and humor as it examines the plight of three young Mississippi sisters betrayed by their passions.

A New York Times Review said: ?While this play overflows with infectious high spirits, it is also, unmistakably, the tale of a very troubled family. Such is Miss Henley?s prodigious talent that she can serve us pain as though it were a piece of cake.?

Playing the roles of the three MaGrath sisters are Distinguished Theatre Northeast Alumni, Holly McCoy of Daingerfield as Lenny, Cassie Pennington of Mount Pleasant as Meg, and Jill Bradley of Hughes Springs as Babe. The character ?Chick? will be played by Lauren Shortnacy and Ariah Burkhalter, both of Mount Pleasant.† The role of Barnette Lloyd is played by John Chambers of Mount Pleasant, and Cody Wommack of Lone Star plays the role of Doc. The production is directed by NTCC Theatre Director Douglas Hoppock.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for age 17 and under, and $3 for NTCC Faculty, Staff and Sr. Citizens. NTCC students are free with a current ID.
