The Northeast Texas Community College Agriculture Department is hosting the debut NTCC Farmer's Market on Friday, May 3rd. The event will be held at the Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Ag Complex (across the road from the main NTCC campus) from 9 a.m. until sell out.

Vendors will have an opportunity to be involved at no charge at the kick-off event. Booth spaces are available for those interested in selling home-grown produce, plants, and handcrafted items. Interested school and civic organizations looking to raise funds (bake sales, etc.) are welcome to participate as well.

"We invite you to come early and stay to experience the wonderful variety of plants, produce, food and fellowship," Rene' McCracken, NTCC Director of Agriculture, said.

The NTCC Ag Program will have vegetable plants, herbs, jams, and onions available for purchase to help folks on their way to Grow Local and Eat Fresh!. They will also have their newly-developed organic compost tea (liquid fertilizer that is utilized by the college on hay pasture and gardens) available for purchase on this day. Those wishing to purchase compost tea should bring their own containers and all must be purchased that day. Additionally, the pullets (12 week old hens) that have been raised by the small farms class for pastured poultry operations will be for sale. Larger quantities of compost tea are available (100 gallons or more) by preordering.
