Former Eagle named VBL D-Bat Player of the Week

Former NTCC Eagle Baseball player Matt Durst is having a great summer in the Valley Baseball League. Playing for the Charles Town Cannons, Durst was named D-Bat Player of the Week on Monday, June 17. According to a VBL press release,†Durst played in six games that week and recorded at least one hit in five of them. He finished the week batting .409 (9-for-22) with two double, a triple and a home run. The rising junior at Southern Mississippi added eight RBIs, four runs, a sacrifice fly and a stolen base. In the Cannons final game of the week, Durst finished 4-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Durst, of Whitehouse, was an all-conference player for NTCC who hit .340. He was part of the conference champion team in 2012. The junior is slated to play at the University of Southern Mississippi for the 2013-2014 season.
