The Eagles pushed their record to 5-1 this weekend as they swept a three-game series from visiting Pratt Community College. After a disappointing offensive performance last weekend, the Eagle hitters came to life against Pratt as NTCC produced 28 hits and 24 runs in three games this week.
?We were finally hitting the ball the way we should be,? Eagle head coach Josh Stewart said. ?I just hope we can keep hitting like that as the season goes on.?
D.J. Roberts led the Eagle hitters during the series, going 7-11 at the plate with three RBI while Austin White was 5-11, including the Eagles? first home run of the season.
The Eagles scored all the runs they would need in the opening three innings of game one Friday afternoon as NTCC picked up a 9-0 victory.
Wesley Hoover scored on a Cameron O?Brien single in the first inning to get the Eagle offense started before NTCC added six more in the second. White, Hayden Martin and O?Brien all picked up doubles for the Eagles in the second inning as NTCC led 7-0 headed to the third.
A two-RBI triple by Dalton Daniels pushed the Eagle lead to 9-0 in the third as NTCC cruised to the victory.
Greg Milhorn picked up the shutout win for the Eagles, giving up just four hits and striking out nine in six innings of work.
The Eagles spread the offense out over eight innings in game two as NTCC picked up a 10-0 win. Roberts finished with three hits and two RBI in the win while Martin was 2-3 at the plate.
Kyle Neely picked up the win for the Eagles, giving up just four hits and striking out nine in six innings of action.
The Eagles found themselves in a much closer contest in game three Saturday as NTCC pulled out a 5-3 win.
NTCC fell behind 2-0 in the fourth inning before the Eagles scored five unanswered runs en route to the victory.
White led the Eagle hitters in the win going 3-5 at the plate while Roberts was 2-4. Tanner Allgood picked up the win, giving up three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out three in seven innings of action. Jordan Foster earned the save.
?It was a good weekend for us,? Stewart said. ?Now we just need to take this momentum and keep it going.?
The Eagles were in action at Hill College Wednesday and will be back home Monday as they host Grayson College for a single nine-inning game beginning at 2 p.m.
