On August 24 100+ Northeast Texas Community College Eagles swooped down and landed on six Habitat for Humanity lots on 9th street in Mount Pleasant. Directed by coaches Josh Stewart, Shane Wedd, Jessica Keith, Donovan Dowling, and Kayla King; as well as Habitat volunteers Tim Hart and Ronny White, the students attacked neglected homesites. Members of the softball, baseball and soccer teams (including coaches) spent the day clearing the lots of rotting trees, briars, and other assorted trash. The team was provided with a barbecue lunch by Ronny Farmer. A representative from Habitat for Humanity said: "We at Mount Pleasant Habitat for Humanity are extremely appreciative of these students' time and effort put forth to help provide decent, affordable housing for families in our town."
