Congratulations to Dr. Brad Johnson and Toni LaBeff
The NTCC Wellness Committee commends you for setting fitness†goals for the fall 2011 semester and reporting your results!
A message from Dr. Johnson:
I had high aspirations as the Fall term began about what I wanted to achieve, but I also set a minimum commitment.† My hope was that I would be in the FIT Center working the machines 3 times per week and walking an hour a day 4 times per week.† My minimum was that I would not quit exercising, no matter whether I got knocked off my ?routine?.
I can report that I†did†get knocked off the ideal goal, but have succeeded at the commitment to make consistent exercise a part of my permanent lifestyle.† I have been most successful with walking because I can do that whether I am at the college, at home, or traveling.† I have found that lifting some light weights at the FIT Center has really helped me feel better overall.† I feel like my balance is better, energy levels are improved, and I now look forward to getting to work out.†
My 2012 goals are to further improve my consistency and to add more movement during each workday.† The presentation by the Wellness Committee at Staff In Service made an impression on me ? I am thinking about how to become more active.
I am no fitness buff and do not claim to be a model for anyone else.† But I am grateful that my work colleagues are talking about ? and doing ? things that should encourage all of us.
A message from Toni LaBeff:
It's been a bit over a year since I committed to achieving better health and I'm happy to say I'm still headed in the right direction.† Success on the short terms goals I've set along the way has sometimes come quickly and sometimes dragged on for what seemed like an eternity, but taking the long view†has allowed me to stay on track.††I'm more physically fit from my walking routine and†have lost over 35 pounds (that's†seven 5-lb sacks of potatoes†I don't have to lift every time I stand up!!).††Check out†the Weight Watchers at Work program and join†us on the journey.
