Northeast Texas Community College will host its annual Kids? Rodeo on Wednesday, April 18 at noon at the†NTCC Rodeo Area. In addition, The†NTCC†Rodeo Team and Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) will sponsor the third annual†NTCC†Handicapped Rodeo at 10 a.m. on the same day.

?The annual Kids? Rodeo and Handicapped Rodeo is something our team looks always looks forward to. They get a chance to share the sport of rodeo with kids who might not get the chance to enjoy it otherwise,?†NTCC†Rodeo Coach, CJ Mohl, said.

Each spring, elementary schools from around the area bus their kindergarten through second grade students to†NTCC†to watch an exhibition rodeo performed by the†NTCC†Rodeo Team. Thousands of local school children have attended these events throughout the years.

The Handicapped Rodeo began in 2010 and has become a tradition that offers fun opportunities for even more students.
The event consists of a stick horse barrel race, a mechanical bull (fully-supervised), a roping dummy, ponies and more.

"The Handicapped rodeo has been a very popular event for our local special needs children. Everyone that has been involved†with this event has been blessed to be able to†participate†in some way and our†NTCC†Rodeo students are amazing with the children,? Joy Cooper,†SIFE†advisor, said.

Hot dogs and drinks will be served at 11 a.m. to participants of the Handicapped Rodeo. †Anyone who is interested in participating should RSVP with Cooper at†jcooper@ntcc.edu†or 903-434-8225.
