† † †The Northeast Texas Community College Industrial Technology Training Center†(ITTC)†in Mount Pleasant will hold an open house event on Thursday, July 12 from 5-7 p.m.†
† † †Prospective students and community members are encouraged to stop by to tour the recently-completed facility and learn more about the training programs offered there.†
† † †"We are entering our second year of classes in the†ITTC,†and we are pleased with progress so far. Our students are completing the programs and are out there getting jobs, which is our ultimate goal," Tim Davis, Director of the Industrial Technology Training Center, said.
† † †The ITTC is located at 1100 Lakewood Drive (Westbound I-30 Service Road) in Mount Pleasant near Lowe's. The facility houses NTCC's Industrial Technology and Electrical Programs. The center was completed in 2011 as a partnership between NTCC, Mount Pleasant ISD and the Mount Pleasant Industrial Development Corporation.
† † †"It's really a win-win for our community. Students get access to the latest industrial training and they are able to immediately go to work in good jobs right here within our area," Davis said.†
† † †The classes utilize industry-standard training modules that give students experience with the types of equipment they will be working with on the job.†Students who have previous experience may be able to complete the courses in a shorter period of time.
† † †"We find that some students are really strong in certain areas and they can move through those courses quickly. However, you can also take your time to learn concepts you may not be familiar with. It is not about how fast the class is completed, it's about learning the skills," Davis said.†
† † †Industrial Technology courses include Fundamentals of Electricity I, Motor Controls, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Mechanical Maintenance, Introduction to Industrial Maintenance and Workplace Skills. Electrical Technology classes include Fundamentals of Electricity I and II, Electrical Calculations, Residential Wiring, Commercial Wiring, and National Electrical Code.†
† † †Classes for both programs begin August 20. Students are encouraged to stop by the open house to learn more or contact Lynda Watson at 903-434-8145. Details are also available online at†www.ntcc.edu.†
