Experience and other Qualifications Required:
The applicant must be knowledgeable in course content and effective in teaching their assigned subjects, and capable through academic preparation, training, and experience to teach the courses or topics to which they are assigned.
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing AND be enrolled in a MSN program (anticipated graduation in 3 years)
- Preferred; Masters degree in Nursing or eligible for a TxBON Waiver (at least halfway through MSN program); Nursing Education focus preferred.
- Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas
- Has been actively employed in nursing for at least two (2) years of the last three (3) years
- If not actively employed in nursing during the past three (3) years, the prospective faculty's advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, and nursing administration shall be considered
- Prior relevant nursing employment
- Experience with ATI preferred
- Experience with online teaching with BlackBoard or other online platform preferred
Description of Job Duties:
- Teaching ADN courses (lecture/lab/clinical) to include (but not limited to): course preparation, grading, use of BlackBoard online platform, remediation, exam development, incorporation of ATI into lesson plan, relationships with clinical sites and preceptors, etc
- New hire with BSN credential enrolled in Master’s program without TxBON waiver will assist other MSN faculty as a Clinical Teaching Assistant (CTA) until TxBON waiver can be obtained.
- Actively participate in department meetings, projects, and assigned tasks
- Adhere to NTCC policies and procedures as described in the NTCC catalog, NTCC faculty handbook, NTCC staff handbook, and Department of Nursing handbook
- Other duties as assigned
