Description of Job Duties:
Engage and Support High School Students and Families:
- Build strong relationships with high school students and their families, particularly within the Hispanic and underserved communities
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages open dialogue and trust
- Work on the Titus, Camp, and Morris County high school campuses and the NTCC campus
One-to-One Advising and Enrollment Sessions:
- Conduct regular follow-ups with high school students and their parents, offering guidance, support and assistance
- Schedule and facilitate one-to-one advising sessions to discuss academic and career goals, course selection, and the college application process
Identify Challenges and Opportunities:
- Work collaboratively with students and their families to identify challenges and opportunities related to pursuing higher education
- Provide relevant information and support to address these challenges effectively
Coordinate Outreach Activities:
- Organize and coordinate activities at targeted high schools to raise awareness about college opportunities
- Collaborate with school administrators and teachers to conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions for students and parents
Financial Aid and Scholarships:
- Assist students and their families in completing financial aid applications, including FAFSA and scholarship applications
- Provide guidance on available financial resources and scholarship opportunities
Prevent "Summer Melt":
- Continuously engage admitted students to ensure they meet critical enrollment milestones
- Develop strategies to prevent "summer melt" by addressing any barriers to enrollment
Experience and other Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field
- Master's degree preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working with underserved communities, particularly Hispanic and first-generation college students
- Knowledge of college admissions processes and financial aid programs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
